The desire to save money and the environment has led to a steady increase in the number of people switching to clean (or solar) energy in recent years.
In New York alone, the growth of solar energy has risen to more than 300 percent between 2011 and 2014. New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) promotes energy-efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources through a photovoltaic (PV) program that offers a rebate based on the size of the PV system installed.
While not every home is suitable for a solar energy system, those homes that qualify can see a monthly cost-savings, as well as tax incentive opportunities. Essentially, it comes down to paying money to save money, so consumers must decide for themselves whether it’s worth the investment in the long run.
In contrast with fossil fuel electricity, solar electric systems create no noise, air, or water pollution, instead creating a clean carbon footprint for the environment.
